New dog park and upgraded playground

Much loved by the community, Wantirna Reserve is a hub of diverse recreational activities, and will now be home to Knox’s latest agility dog park and playground.

Aimed to create a safe, enjoyable and inclusive environment where families, children and dog owners can come together and enjoy the outdoors, the new agility dog park and upgraded playground have been carefully designed to foster a sense of community, promote physical activity, and enhance the overall recreational experience at Wantirna Reserve.

Plans also include upgrading the existing car park near the playground, ensuring accessible parking.

This project is part of the Victorian Government’s New and Upgraded Dog Parks Program.

The current draft plan of the new dog park includes:

  • Fenced off dog park area
  • Separate fenced area for smaller and big dogs
  • Double gate access

The current draft plan of the playground upgrade includes:

  • A big play tower for all age groups
  • Swing set including standard seat, toddler seat, expression seat and a basket swing.
  • Musical instrument

Wantirna Reserve Masterplan

The dog park and upgraded playground is part of the Wantirna Reserve Masterplan. The Wantirna Reserve Masterplan was endorsed in March 2024 and is part of the Knox Capital Works Program and Council’s commitment to upgrade ageing infrastructure. The Masterplan sets the strategic direction and provides a framework for planning and delivery of upgrades and new capital works projects to meet the current and future needs of the community.
