Consultation closed on Friday 24 November. Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback. We will provide an update on plans and implementation timelines early in 2024.

Wantirna Reserve is a valued asset for the local community, and to ensure we meet current and future community needs, we are looking to develop a Masterplan to upgrade the reserve.

The reserve is popular with the local community for informal use and is also home to the following clubs/groups:

  • Wantirna Tennis Club
  • Knox Hockey Club
  • 2nd Wantirna Scout Group
  • Australian Jazz Museum
  • Knox Athletics – cross country

Development of the Masterplan began in 2017/18, however, was put on hold while the tennis and hockey improvements were completed.

The proposed enhancements will include:

  • New and improved paths
  • Upgraded playground and park space – including a new dog park
  • New car parks – including upgrades to existing car spaces
  • Refurbished pavilion

Full list outlined on the map below.

Your input will help us refine the plan and further improve the park for the community now - and for future use.

The Knox Open Space Plan identifies Wantirna Reserve as a Municipal Open Space that accommodates a large number of people and attracts people from across the municipality and beyond.

The 2023 Draft Wantirna Reserve Masterplan is a tool in planning for the future of the reserve which builds on this direction and identifies appropriate site improvements to enhance and upgrade facilities and amenities within the Reserve, whilst aiming to attract new and additional visitors to this fantastic site.

A key strength of Wantirna Reserve is the site's ability to accommodate a range of active and passive recreation user groups amongst the tranquil backdrop of Koomba Park and Dandenong Creek Corridor. The proposed works aim to retain the existing landscape features while enhancing and upgrading facilities and amenities for current and future community needs.

The draft Masterplan reflects recent works which have been implemented (such as the conversion of the oval and the addition of the hockey facilities), and the current improvements to the tennis courts. It also identifies suitable future impovements and opportunities for the site. The proposed works will be staged and implemented over time as funding permits.

TENNIS COURT RENEWALS

Five tennis courts have been renewed and are now open for use, including:

  • Improved court dimensions
  • New synthetic clay on a concrete base
  • New drainage upgrades
  • Fence replacement
  • Lighting upgrades
  • Seating upgrades
  • Improved concrete paved areas.

HOCKEY PITCH

In partnership with both The Knox School and the Knox Hockey Club, Wantirna Reserve was announced as the new home for the Knox Hockey Club.

A brand new pitch was designed - and is now complete and in use.
