The home-loving theme captures our community’s sentiment about Knox, as a place to put roots down and call home.

These initiatives aims to build on this sentiment to celebrate the qualities that make Knox great, this includes family oriented, cosy streets, and community connectedness.

Proposed home-loving initiatives include:

  • Open kitchen cooking classes: To welcome customers back in Knox’s most loved restaurants, businesses will open up their kitchens to host cooking classes for Knox foodies. Cooking is great way to socialise and learn new recipes from different cultures.
  • The big spring clean: Support a Knox-wide spring cleaning week with sales and events in late August or early September. Some actions will focus on giving our retail centres some tender love and care, such as graffiti removal.
  • Seasonal planting on show: This idea stems from Noos Noodles restaurant in Wantirna. For Vietnamese Lunar New Year celebrations (Tet), vibrant marigolds are displayed in front of their shopfront for locals to enjoy (pictured below). The marigolds display has become a well-known local attraction, adding joy and colour to the streetscape. We can build on this initiative to create seasonal flower displays for Knox retail centres.
  • Cosy streets and places: We will look at enhancing the comfortable feeling in our public spaces by creating community spaces for people to relax such as seating, dinging pods, and provide comforts like USB charging ports and soft lighting.
