Council has deferred consideration of a hockey facility at Benedikt Reserve and requested a detailed investigation into the feasibility of Wantirna Reserve (East sports field) as a potential future site for the development of a hockey facility for the Knox Hockey Club.

Council will also explore opportunities for a partnership approach with Maroondah City Council to develop a hockey facility at JW Manson Reserve. Gilbert Park has been ruled out of consideration, as inclusion of a hockey facility would be inconsistent with developments already earmarked for this location.

$3.5 million has been set aside for construction of a hockey facility in Council’s draft 2021‐22 budget. The development is subject to a further decision of Council upon identifying a viable site, confirming the total project cost depending on the site selected, and securing potential funding from other levels of government.

Council acknowledges the timeframe involved in making a decision has a significant impact on the operations of Knox Hockey Club and is committed to openly and regularly communicating our progress with the Club and the community.
