Project update

We’ve been working with the Knox Hockey Club since 2017 in an effort to identify an alternative location to its current facilities at the Knox School. This is a challenging task as all Knox’s active reserves are already highly utilised.

Several locations have been explored and assessed for their ability to meet the needs of the Club. Benedikt Reserve has been considered in detail and we are now also considering Wantirna Reserve as a viable option.

We invite you to share your thoughts on the proposed concept plan for Wantirna Reserve by 4 October 2021.

Possible upgrades to accommodate the hockey club could include:

  • a synthetic hockey field on an existing football/cricket ground
  • upgrading the existing sports lighting with highly efficient LED units that focus light on the field and prevent light spill into surrounding properties
  • increase car parking
  • possible future redevelopment or replacement of the existing sports pavilion
Community feedback will be incorporated into a report to Council that will inform future decisions about the most appropriate reserve to upgrade and accommodate the Knox Hockey Club.
