Do you think we should lease 5 car parks in Dorset Square for a Container Deposit Machine?
VISY is proposing a container deposit machine in the Dorset Square carpark on Council land and requested a lease from Council.
We want to understand your thoughts on the proposed lease of five car parks for a 5-year period. Your feedback will help guide our decision on the proposal.
The reverse vending machine is a State Government initiative designed to increase recycling by giving 10-cent refunds for containers.
VISY has identified Dorset Square carpark as a suitable location for the machine, with the specific location shown in the map below.
The Dorset Square carpark is highly used, and during peak times such as Christmas, it is used at maximum capacity.
Having a container deposit machine in Dorset Square might encourage more people to visit the area and support local businesses, however there will be 5 less car parks for visitors. A collection truck will routinely visit the site to empty the machine which may cause some minor disruptions.
This is your opportunity to share your thoughts on the proposed lease, of 5 car spaces, and whether the machine will encourage you to visit the centre.
