Koolunga Native Reserve Future Directions Plan Project Update

17 January 2023

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback recently on the Engagement Summary Report and Values Plan for Koolunga Native Reserve.

The Values Plan has now been completed and provides an outline of what the community values about Koolunga Native Reserve. The feedback received included the following focus themes of:

  • retain bushland and open space areas
  • improve the water quality within the reserve

We are now developing a Future Development Plan for Koolunga Native Reserve. This plan will be developed using the information provided in 3 key documents:

  • Koolunga Native Reserve Values Plan (finalised)
  • Koolunga Native Reserve and Vaughan Reserve Bushland Management Plan (currently being updated)
  • Stormwater Quality Study (in development)

We have commenced work on a site specific ‘Stormwater Quality Study’ that will consider opportunities to improve water quality within the reserve that minimizes the impact on open space and bushland.

Once the Stormwater Quality Study has been undertaken and Bushland Management Plan updated, we will draft the Future Directions Plan, aiming for consultation on the draft in April 2023.

The Bushland Management Plan and Stormwater Quality Study will also be shared with the community at this time.

We acknowledge that this process has taken longer than our original timeline, our priority is to deliver a thorough and transparent process that provides the best outcomes for Koolunga Native Reserve and our community.

You can read more about the next steps and updated project timelines on the Have Your Say page.
