Kindergarten community panel session 1

10 March 2023

The first session of the kindergarten community panel was held on Thursday 9 March, from 6pm to 8.30pm.

27 people attended the session, which was facilitated by Capire Consulting Group.

The session began with an explanation of the process and the group had an opportunity to consider how they would work together. They also completed an activity to understand the different ways people approach information and problem solving.

Council officers presented background information on kindergartens, state and federal government regulations and reforms, and the need for the service review at this time. They also answered panelist questions. You can review the slides that were shared and the information book that was provided to panelists.

If you would like to know more you can review the frequently asked questions and also submit your own questions to Council.

The panel will meet again on 18th March, 23rd March and 1st April.

Who is on the kindergarten community panel?

An expression of interest was sent to 6,000 randomly selected households in Knox.

Applications were assessed by an independent consultant to select a group that represent the demographic profile of the Knox community. This considered:

  • Age and gender
  • Diversity
  • Household location, income and structure.

We sought applications from people who have use kindergarten or have in the past, along with those that haven’t.

The charts below show the demographic make up of the panel.
