Council to exit standalone kindergarten services
15 August 2023
At a meeting last night, Council made a final decision to stop running standalone sessional kindergarten services and make its buildings available to other providers from January 2025.
Council-run kindergarten services at the two Children and Family Centres in Wantirna and Bayswater will continue.
The decision comes following a thorough review of our kindergarten services, a deliberative community panel process and staff consultation.
With big changes on the way as part of the state government’s decision to increase hours, make kindergarten free and offer a second year of kindergarten before school, Council has been reviewing its kindergarten services to determine the best way to support local families while managing the financial and operational risks to Council of continuing as a kindergarten provider.
