Upgrading the Knox Skate & BMX Park

Consultation on this project has closed. Thank you to all residents, stakeholders and community members who provided feedback on the proposed extension of the skate park.

A summary of community engagement is available.

Based on community feedback and suggestions, we developed a final design which includes:

  • beginner and junior friendly features to help riders build confidence
  • a mix of street and transition style obstacles for variety and fun
  • shaded areas, lighting and a picnic shelter for comfort and chill time
  • improved pathways to make getting around easier.
Construction

Construction kicks off in December 2025 and is expected to wrap up by March 2026.

The park will remain open throughout the works, with safety fencing in place to minimise disruption.

The Knox Skate & BMX Park extension is being constructed by Knox City Council, in partnership with the Victorian Government.

Gilbert Park Masterplan

The skate park extension is part of the Gilbert Park Masterplan. The Gilbert Park Masterplan was adopted by Council in 2018. It sets the strategic direction and provides a framework for planning and delivery of upgrades and capital works projects to meet the current and future needs of the community. Since 2020, we have delivered several upgrades to Gilbert Park and have improved the skate park, wetlands, play space, fencing, sports lighting and the batting cage.
