Community Engagement Summary Report

15 October 2021

Thank you for sharing your feedback and ideas for the Domestic Animal Management Plan 2021-2025.

Phase 1

Over 3,300 responses were received over August 2021 in phase 1 of community engagement.

We heard from cat and dog owners, non-pet owners, community group members and local animal businesses.

Some key findings and themes are:

  • support requested for community education regarding dog off-leash rules and areas
  • a need for solutions to address the problem of dog poo not being disposed of properly
  • support requested by cat owners to assist with the transition to a 24-hour cat curfew in 10 April 2022
  • public education for responsible pet ownership.

The Engagement Summary Report is available for you to view.

Phase 2

Community feedback will be reviewed and incorporated into the draft Domestic Animal Management Plan 2021-2025.

You will have the opportunity to review the draft plan and have your say in phase 2 of community consultation over the coming weeks.
