The Knox Cycling Action Plan will support more people to use our cycling network and provide direction on how we will improve and expand the cycling network.
The updated Knox Cycling Action Plan was endorsed by Council in August 2024.
The Plan
The Knox Cycling Action Plan will deliver a cycling network that:
- provides a cycling environment for experienced and inexperienced or less confident cyclists;
- is extensive and links our homes to key destinations, services and facilities across Knox; and
- is well-connected both locally and to the wider regional cycling network across Victoria;
The network
Using the collated data, Knox’s cycling network is structured into four route categories:
- Primary Routes – that perform similar to main arterial roads
- Secondary Routes – that connect main to local route
- Local Routes – streets with low speed and low number of vehicles
- Recreational Routes – continuous off-road cycling facilities linking key recreational destinations. ‘
