A changing climate will have significant consequences for our community, particularly those that are elderly, have health conditions, are low-income earners or are considered disadvantaged - all of whom may struggle to make changes that will help them adapt to the impacts of extreme weather conditions.
Proposed actions for community health in the Climate Response Plan:
Supporting the health and well-being of those members of our community who need our help is a priority for us.
We plan to do this by:
- Planning and defining responsibilities to better coordinate service providers who are involved in delivering assistance during emergency events
- Identifying areas within Knox where heat becomes trapped and has the greatest impact on our community members who may not be able to escape it easily
- Prioritising where we will invest in ways to cool our community and lessen the impact of these heat zones.
